Product Type and Product Category Templates Enhanced

When building a product catalog in the site tree the addition of a Product Type Page or Product Category Page automatically creates a template filled with whatever category products were selected in its content properties. These templates contain the product listing and an expanding menu to navigate the entire catalog. 

Since their inception, these pages allow more widgets to be added to the bottom of the page for customization. New to these page types is the ability to add widgets to the top of the page, above the product content. 

This adds great flexibility to the layout. Like anywhere a blue plus icon appears, any number of widgets can be added. One option is to add a Hero Image Widget to the top of the page to include a photo related to the product category (see image for an example below).

Design Tip: remember to check the widget behavior on a mobile device. It’s important that the actual product content not be too far down the page to be apparent on page load.
